Your pension after working in Belgium and Romania
Have you worked in Belgium and in Romania? Your years are not lost. You receive a pension from each country, each for its own part. We help you keep a clear overview.
Within the European Union you don’t get one combined pension, but a separate pension from each country where you worked for at least a year. Each country pays for the years you worked there. Short periods are added together, so you don’t lose them.
You usually apply for your pension in the country where you live. That country passes the application on to the other countries. The pension age differs per country: in Belgium it is 66, and 67 from 2030.
On mypension.be you can see your Belgian career and an estimate of your pension. Since the pension reform, a year only counts fully from 156 worked or assimilated days.
