Up to date as of

Already working at least 4/5 for an employer and want to earn a bit more? Since 1 July 2026 you can do so through a flexi-job in almost every sector, private and public. Before, this was mainly possible in hospitality and retail.

What is the benefit?

You pay no tax on your flexi-wage up to €18,440 a year (2026 amount). For pensioners there is no limit.

Who can do a flexi-job?

  • You worked at least 4/5 for another employer in the quarter three quarters before your flexi-job, or
  • you are retired.

What should you watch out for?

  • No flexi-job with your own employer, nor while you are serving notice there.
  • Recently went from full-time to 4/5? A waiting period applies first.
  • Some sectors can still say “no”. Artistic work remains excluded.
  • In construction extra conditions apply, such as safety training.
